Foreign Direct Investment

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) is the sum of equity capital, reinvestment of earnings, long or short-term capital as shown in the balance of payments. Simply put, it is the net inflows of an investment, the purpose of which is to acquire a lasting management in a company doing business in an economy other than that of the interested party, usually involving a fair deal of management, joint-ventures and the transfer of expertise.
