GEORGINA ADIA NYADIA
Georgina Adia Nyadia is a female legal practitioner with diverse skills and experience. She has a
strong career objective of developing her personal potential while contributing to the success of
any organization she works for. Georgina possesses several personal qualities that make her an
asset to any team, including being a good team player, excellent in written and verbal
communication, hardworking, proactive, adaptable to social situations, and capable of working
under pressure with minimal supervision.
Outside of work, Georgina engages in various hobbies such as reading decided law cases,
motivational books, and gardening. She also enjoys staying indoors during her leisure time and
listening to the radio.
Georgina's work experience includes several roles in the Ghana Maritime Authority, where she
has showcased her legal expertise and contributed to the organization's success. In her roles as a
Principal Legal Officer and Senior Legal Officer, she provided legal advice, opinions, and
drafted maritime legislation. She also assisted in ratifying and implementing international
conventions, represented the authority in litigation, and organized stakeholder forums. As an
Acting Board Secretary, she facilitated board meetings, maintained records, and provided advice
on maritime issues during deliberations. Georgina also gained experience as a Junior Associate at
Legfields Consultancy, where she handled various legal responsibilities such as client
conferences, legal research, contract drafting, and court representation.
Georgina's educational background is extensive and includes a Master of Business
Administration (MBA) in Corporate Governance from the University of Professional Studies,
Accra. She also holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Maritime Law from the
University of Malta's International Maritime Law Institute. Furthermore, she obtained a Barrister
at Law (BL) Qualifying Certificate from the Ghana School of Law, a Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
from the University of Ghana, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Ghana.
Georgina's academic achievements were recognized when she received the Best Performing
Nippon Scholar award for 2014 from the International Maritime Law Institute in Malta.
Georgina has been involved in various research projects related to maritime law and governance.
Some notable projects include the expansion of the cruise terminal at Turks and Caicos Port, the
analysis of corporate governance practices at the Ghana Maritime Authority, and the
procurement and operation of a fleet of ships for Ghana through a public-private partnership.
Additionally, Georgina has participated in numerous short courses and training workshops to
enhance her skills and knowledge. These courses covered port senior management, legislative
drafting, public-private partnerships, maritime offences, engineering, procurement, and
construction contracts. She has also attended international conferences and seminars organized
by institutions such as the International Maritime Organization and the European Maritime Law
Organisation.

These courses covered port senior management, legislative drafting, public-private partnerships, maritime offences, engineering, procurement, and construction contracts. Georgina’s professional involvement extends to serving on various committees, including the National Integrated Maritime Strategy Committee, the National Maritime Security Committee, and Entity Tender Committees. She has also been part of project implementation and investigative and disciplinary committees. Georgina is a member of the Ghana Bar Association, an associate member of the Institute of Directors, Ghana, and actively participates in organizations such as Women's International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA), Ghana, and Women in Maritime for West and Central Africa (WIMOWCA).
