GEORGINA ADIA NYADIA
Georgina Adia Nyadia is a dedicated female legal practitioner with a broad range of skills and experience. Her career goal is to enhance her potential while contributing to organisational success. She is known for her teamwork, strong communication skills, proactive nature, adaptability, and ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. Her hobbies include reading legal cases, motivational books, gardening, staying indoors, and listening to the radio.
Professionally, Georgina has held various roles at the Ghana Maritime Authority, where she has made significant legal contributions. As a Principal Legal Officer and Senior Legal Officer, she provided legal advice, drafted maritime legislation, helped implement international conventions, represented the authority in litigation, and facilitated stakeholder forums. She also served as Acting Board Secretary, coordinating board meetings and advising on maritime issues. Earlier, she gained valuable legal experience as a Junior Associate at Legfields Consultancy, handling legal research, client conferences, contract drafting, and court representation.
Georgina’s academic background is not just impressive, it’s exceptional. She holds an MBA in Corporate Governance from the University of Professional Studies, Accra, an LLM in International Maritime Law from the University of Malta’s International Maritime Law Institute, a Barrister at Law certificate from the Ghana School of Law, an LLB, and a BA from the University of Ghana. Her academic excellence was recognized with the Best Performing Nippon Scholar award in 2014 at the International Maritime Law Institute.
Georgina has worked on various research projects, including expanding the cruise terminal at Turks and Caicos Port, analysing corporate governance at the Ghana Maritime Authority, and developing a public-private partnership for a fleet of ships for Ghana. She has also attended numerous training workshops on legislative drafting, public-private partnerships, maritime offences, and procurement.
Georgina is not just a legal practitioner but an active participant in the professional community. She is involved in professional organizations such as the Ghana Bar Association, the Institute of Directors, Ghana, the Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA), Ghana, and Women in Maritime for West and Central Africa (WIMOWCA). Additionally, she serves on various committees like the National Maritime Security Committee and the National Integrated Maritime Strategy Committee.
